Turmeric-Infused Honey & Garlic Recipe: A Traditional Ayurvedic Blend
This holistic infusion is rooted in centuries of Ayurvedic tradition, combining sweet honey, pungent garlic, warm Ceylon cinnamon and aromatic cloves to capture the essence of nature’s goodness. The honey takes the edge off the sharpness of the garlic which allows you to savour the more subtle, nuanced flavours of garlic without its overpowering intensity.
You can enjoy this infusion by drizzling it over roasted or steamed vegetables for a sweet and savoury flavour boost, or even having a small spoonful a day.
Method:
- Peel and crush (or finely chop) the garlic cloves.
- Place the crushed garlic in the sterilised jar and let it sit aside for about 10 minutes. Crushing garlic and letting it sit for 10 to 15 minutes allows the release of allicin, a key active compound of garlic which may have potential health benefits.
- After 10 minutes, add enough honey to the jar to completely cover the garlic. You should use equal quantities of honey and crushed garlic. The exact amount will depend on the size of your jar and the amount of garlic you have but aim roughly for an equal ratio, leaving some air space at the top of the jar.
- Split open the Surya Prana Nutrition Turmeric & Black Pepper with Turmeric Extract capsules and add the contents to the jar.
- Then, add the whole cinnamon sticks and cloves.
- Stir the mixture thoroughly to ensure that all the ingredients are well combined.
- Allow the mixture to stand for 24 hours before using it to allow the flavours to infuse together.
Shelf Life
- Keep for a few months.
- Over time, garlic may become tough and rubbery. This is how you know it has expired.
Storage Tip
- Store in a cool, dark place, preferably the refrigerator.
- Remember to always check the mixture for any signs of spoilage and use clean spoons when scooping to maintain its longevity.

Honey should not be given to infants under 12 months of age due to the risk of botulism, a rare but serious form of food poisoning. Garlic is generally safe for most people, including children, when consumed in moderation. However, infants and very young children might be more sensitive to garlic and it could cause digestive discomfort.
It's always a good idea to consult with a paediatrician or healthcare provider before introducing any new foods to a child's diet, especially if there are concerns about potential risks or allergies.
